Its drag is cast in the form of a dolphin & the carrying mounts in the form of knotted ropes. Fish skin scabbard with brass gilt mountings. Fish skin grip lightly worn, but tight, with small chipped spot at pommel. Gilt brass work lightly tarnished, exhibiting medium dark patina. Hilt assembly slightly loose, but symmetrical. Standard floral decorations with “USN” riband on obverse side. Ding-free, the blade exhibits light water marks & scattered pitting near tip. Semi-bright blade measures 29” in length and 1.0625” in width at its base. Blade maker-mark : “Clauberg / Solingen”.
